Syrian minister in Ankara reviews developing relations

The Minister of the Interior Muhammad Harba on Tuesday in Ankara met with Turkey's deputy prime minister Dawlat Bahajli. The Turkish minister of the interior Saad eddin Tantan and members of the Syrian and Turkish negotiating delegations attended the meeting.
The two sides reviewed views on bilateral relations between Syria and Turkey and means of developing them. Discussions dealt with issues of mutual concern.
The Turkish deputy prime minister expressed his hope that sides concerned will be able to eliminate obstacles hindering the realization of a just and comprehensive peace which will be for the welfare and prosperity of the peoples of the region.
Harba stressed that peace is Syria's strategic option at the condition that Israel will comply to the requirements of peace, namely the return back of the Golan up to June 4, 1967 border lines. He added " it has become known to the whole world who obstructs peace and who seeks it."
Also on Tuesday, Harba held talks with Tantan on bilateral relations. The two ministers stressed their care to strengthen bilateral relations in all fields.
Earlier in the day, the Syrian minister arrived in Ankara in a visit which will last for three days. He was welcomed by Tantan, high ranking Turkish ministry of the Interior officials and the Syrian charge de affairs in Ankara.
The Syrian minister is accompanied by the chairman of the political security branch in Syria Lt. Gen. Adnan Bader Hassan and a delegation representing high ranking officials at the ministry of the Interior.
In a joint a press conference Harba stressed the important Syrian- Turkish geographical links and common ties of culture and history, noting that the aim of his visit is to discuss the development of relations between Syria and Turkey.
He continued that discussions will deal with means of developing relations between the two countries's ministries of the interior in various fields, especially in the area of fighting drugs and terrorism and falsifying official documents and currencies as well as ensuring smooth entry to citizens between the two countries with the aim to encourage tourism and commerce.
Tantan commended Syrian- Turkish relations which go back deep in history, stressing his country's desire to develop cooperation relations between the ministries of the ministries in the two countries. He also noted the positive developments in the area of economic cooperation which signifies a positive reflection to the development of bilateral security relations.
