Princess Lalla Meryem visits Kosovo

Morocco's Princess Lalla Meryem, chairwoman of the social works services of the Royal Armed Forces and acting chairwoman of the National committee of support to Kosovo, is starting this Tuesday a visit to Kosovo.

The princess, sister of King Mohammed VI, is scheduled to hand out humanitarian aid, school stationery and clothes to the inhabitants of Mitrovica. She will also chair the opening of several social institutions and visit the Moroccan military contingent and the Moroccan military hospital school in the city.

The Moroccan contingent's performance was described as "exemplary" by General Sublet, head of the "Northern" international brigade on Saturday

The social and medical action of the Moroccan contingent, deployed in Kosovo part of the KFOR, is a source of pride for all Morocco, Gen. Bulet, whose mission in Kosovo came to end, said at a dinner banquet, held at the basis of the Moroccan contingent in Mitrovica.

"The Moroccan contingent, thanks to its social and medical mission, will play a key role in bringing together Albanians and Serbs and will certainly succeed in establishing a culture of peace in the region," he said.

"this action earned the Moroccan contingent the respect of Albanians and Serbs alike," said the General.

The contingent runs a hospital, where 24 doctors and army medical officers provide for six hours a day Medicare for the local population regardless of its ethnic group (Albanian, Serb, Bosnian and Tzigane)

The hospital, with a capacity of 60 beds, also receives soldiers of peace keeping force in Kosovo including French, Belgian, Danish, and Polish.
