Emirate official: Saddam's writting of the Quran with his blood is prohibited
United Arab Emirates-Iraq, Politics, 9/26/2000

Sheik Ali El-Hashimi, the advisor of the head of Emirates for the religious and judicial affairs, said yesterday that "Saddam's writing of the holy Quran with his blood is prohibited." This was in reference to news that the Iraqi president had a Quran delivered to him that was written by Hussein's blood as ink. The Iraqi president did this in order to thank the almighty for having saved his life many times.

El-Hashimi said in press declarations yesterday that "it is a sign of the judgment day for that it contradict with the holiness and purity of God's holy book, urging the Moslem scholars to denounce such work which he depicted as absurd."

In the same time, the Saudi newspapers denounced yesterday Saddam's act regarding the holy Quran and using it as a propaganda tool to enhance his position before his people.
