Work to start very soon at al-Wahda dam

Well-informed sources at the Jordanian ministry of waters and irrigation said that an announcement will be made in October for a bid to qualified world companies to implement al-Wahda dam, at a cost of 140 million Jordanian dinars.
The Jordanian daily al-Rai said that work will immediately and not later than the beginning of next year start in this project whose storage capacity will be 225 million cubic meters and a height of 100 meters, after necessary arrangements were taken.
According to the same sources the Jordanian daily added that the Syrian irrigation minister Taha al-Atrash and the Jordanian minister of waters and irrigation will meet to discuss water cooperation between the two states especially al-Wahda dam and evaluating the Syrian aid to Jordan of drinking waters.
