Israel violates the blue line in South Lebanon
Lebanon-Israel, Politics, 9/25/2000
The Israeli soldiers on Sunday opened fire against Lebanese citizens at "Fatmah Gate" area on the Lebanese borders.
The Lebanese citizens retaliated to the Israeli bullets by throwing stones and they raised the Lebanese flag and flags of the Lebanese national resistance.
Meantime, the Israeli radio admitted that Israeli soldiers also on Sunday opened fire against Lebanese citizens near the occupied Shebaa farms under the pretext that they crossed barriers installed by the Israeli occupation forces.
On Sunday afternoon, the Israeli soldiers opened fire from their position behind the border fence in South Lebanon against Lebanese citizens while trying to reach the occupied Shebaa farms.
Lebanese security sources said that 50 Lebanese cars carrying Lebanese citizens were heading from Kafer Shouba town towards al-Jabal al-Ahmad to enter Shebaa farms and they were fired upon by the Israeli forces.
The sources stressed that no casualties took place among the civilians during the aggression which caused great tension on the borders.
Meanwhile, Israeli army bulldozers on Sunday constructed a road adjoining the line drawn by the UN on the Southern Lebanese borders at " al-Jabal al-Ahmar" Gate near Burket al-Batheein in Kafer Shouba.
Citizens of Kafer Shouba expressed their fears that this Israeli violation of the border into their land would put these lands once again under the Israeli occupation, especially as they noted that the Israeli forces informed UNIFIL its intention to modify this line which was previously drawn by the UN special delegate Terry Larsen in June.
