Torabi's party is behind the demonstrations in Sudan
Sudan, Politics, 9/23/2000

Ghazi Salah El-Din, the Sudanese minister of information and culture, accused the public conference headed by Hassan al-Torabi and some factions of the opposition Sudanese alliance of being behind the demonstrations which broke out lately in some areas in Sudan.

In press declaration yesterday, the Sudanese minister said that "the news about the demonstration were exaggerated by the mass media and that they are much less than the published ones."

He referred to that these demonstrations are more sabotage than an expression of certain demands, yet he assured that the positions are stable in Sudan and these demonstrations will not lead to neither a public upheaval nor a change in the political reality.

He said that his government will deal with the riot makers and the demonstrations as individuals according to the law they broke, assuring that his government will not be hostile to political groups as long as they work legally and peacefully.
