An assassination attempt against Sudanese journalist

Sudanese journalist Muhammad Taha Muhammad Ahmad, owner and chief editor of the Sudanese daily al-Wefaq ( reconciliation) was on Thursday evening exposed to an assassination attempt in the southern part of Khartoum.

The Sudanese dailies issued on Friday said that an unidentified car crashed into journalist Muhammad Ahmad as he was leaving the national council for the press, before which he was brought at 8 p.m. because of an article he wrote in his paper in which he criticized Hassan al-Turabi, the chairman of the people's national conference party and the complaints committee decided to suspend the issuance of his paper for five days as from yesterday ( Friday).

The director of Khartoum province department Lt. Gen. Othman Jaafar told the Sudanese daily al-Rai al- Am on Friday that a police has already started intensive investigations to arrest the criminals.
