Oil refining company agrees on salary increase

The management of Moroccan oil-refining company SAMIR, and the CDT trade union, representing workers from two refining sites, have reached an agreement to increase salaries starting next January, it was officially announced in Rabat.
The agreement also provides for a non-taxable premium and other allowances to be paid to all SAMIR staff, said the ministry of employment, vocational training, social development and solidarity which conducted negotiations to avert a strike that employees were projecting to observe last Monday.
The agreement was reached after a series of meetings held On September 15, 16 and 17 between the company, trade unions and the government.
