To discuss the fishery file, resuming the negotiations with EU
Morocco-European Union, Economics, 9/19/2000

A Moroccan sources assured that the consultations concerning the maritime fishery between Morocco and countries of the European Union will be resumed on 28th of current month in Brussels, referring to that the meeting that will comprise Moroccan and European officials will decide future of the cooperation between Morocco and the European Union in the fishery field.

It is worthy to mention that the fishery file concerns Spain and Portugal which benefit from the former fishery agreement which Morocco decided not to renew for considerations relating the depletion of the fish stock.

The sources clarified that the meeting will be an occasion for explaining the Moroccan point of view concerning searching for new means for cooperation in field of the coastal fishery that take care of all the parties' interests, giving likely thought to reaching an understanding formula to overcome the existing disputes concerning the European fishery in the Moroccan regional water.

The Moroccan authorities did not declare forming the negotiating team yet sources assured that it will be said following the return of king Mohammed 6th from his European tour.
