Algerian mediation between Iran and Emirates, Bu Taflika sticks to policy
Algeria-Iran, Politics, 9/18/2000
Abd El Aziz Bel Khadam, the Algerian foreign minister said yesterday that his country is getting ready to begin a diplomatic move to end Iran's occupation to the three Emirate Islands, saying that Algeria will seek during the coming months to solve the problem through its known maintenance toward the Arab rights yet the Algerian minister did not reveal the steps or details of this move.
On the other hand, the Algerian president Abd El Aziz Bu Taflika threatened his opponents to confront them "by the sord" if they did not abide by the law or if they stood in the way of its plans for change as well as its policies which aim to reform the country's position.
The Algerian president said that he does not fear any one in any position and that he will go on in implementing what needs to be done guided by his conscience. These declarations came amid rumors about disputes between bu Taflika and the high ranking leaders of the army who expressed their anxiety toward the policy and method of decision making.
