Morocco, Local, 9/16/2000

Moroccan employment, vocational training, social development and solidarity minister, Abbas Al-Fassi, on Thursday called for bridging the salary gaps in Morocco. Al-Fassi, who was interviewed by Egyptian Al-Ahram daily, also pleaded for limiting the excessive salaries in public administrations.

In Morocco, a high-ranking official can get a compensation 120 times higher than the lowest salary, while this difference does not exceed 6 times in other countries, said Abbas Al-Fassi, who is also secretary-general of the Istiqlal Party.
