An Iraqi delegation in Beirut today
Lebanon-Iraq, Economics, 9/16/2000
An Iraqi delegation headed to Beirut today to participate in inaugurating the first market for the Iraqi goods in Lebanon since 1990.
Sources in the delegation said told Arabic News that "this fair is considered the first of its sort to be held outside Iraq so that the Lebanese people can become acquainted with the Iraqi products despite of the imposed siege on the Iraqi people," adding that 30 Iraqi shipments are conveying (750) tons of the goods which have already entered into Lebanon for the first time since the sanction imposed by the U.N on Iraq.
Lebanon had boycotted its diplomatic relations with Iraq after the assassination of an Iraqi opposition in Beirut in 1994, yet the relations witnessed an ease after the assumption of President Emil Lahud to power in Lebanon.
