Arresting 25 of the prominent Muslim Brothers in Egypt
Egypt, Politics, 9/15/2000
A week before opening the nomination for the Egyptian parliamentary elections, the clash between the government and the prohibited Muslim brothers group is getting escalated as the Egyptian forces launched campaigns in 5 governorates against the active members in the elections due to which 25 persons were arrested and were moved to the State's security prosecution which investigated them and decided to jailing them for 15 days under the investigation.
The Brothers said they nominated nearly 70 of their members for the coming elections yet it seems that the government seeks reducing the number to avoid problems with them during the electoral process which will be fully supervised by the judiciary.
On the other hand, Refaee Ahmed Taha one of the Islamic group regulation threatened to strike the U.S interests in Middle East and he urged the Muslims to refuse the proposals of dividing the sovereignty of Jerusalem with Israel and to liberate the holy city.
