Syrian - Lebanese cooperation in social and security field

A senior Syrian security delegation visited Lebanon yesterday. Head of the Syrian Criminal Security Department, Brigadier Mohammed Youssef Al-Shousha, indicated that this visit comes to consolidate brotherly relations between Syria and Lebanon at the security level.

On his part, Brigadier Samir Sobh said that the visit comes within the framework of coordination and cooperation between Criminal Security Department in Syria and Judicial Police Command in Lebanon as well as the Internal Security Forces.

Meantime Monday, Lebanon and Syria signed a cooperation protocol in the social sector, designed to prepare joint programs to ameliorate social development operation in both states. The protocol was signed on the Lebanese side by Social Affairs and Labor Minister, Michel Moussa, and his Syrian counterpart Bariaa Al-Qodsi, on the Syrian side. The initialing ceremony took place in presence of Lebanese-Syrian Supreme Council Secretary General, Nasri Khoury, as well as senior officials from both ministries.

In her delivered word, Minister Al-Qodsi called on officials in Syria and Lebanon to remove all obstacles standing in the way of social development and to find immediate solutions in support of this sector.

On his part, Minister Moussa indicated that this agreement stipulates the exchange of expertise at the governmental and non-governmental levels between both states, so as to ameliorate the social conditions.

Following the signature ceremony, Minister Moussa, accompanied by Minister Al-Qodsi, paid a visit to Syrian Prime Minister, Mohammed Mustapha Miro, whereby talks touched on bilateral relations, Lebanon's official news agency reported.
