Morocco signs multilateral treaties including Child rights

Morocco signed international treaties on the fringes of the millenium summit, held September 6-8 at the headquarters of the United Nations in New York.

The covenants, initialed by Moroccan foreign affairs and cooperation minister Mohamed Benaissa, include two optional protocols of the convention on children rights (children in armed conflicts, children trafficking, children prostitution and pornography) and the Rome Statute of the International Penal Court.

The summit provided the opportunity for at least 85 states to sign and ratify more than 300 treaties.

The optional protocols of the convention on child rights were signed by 48 countries.
