Qatari official: No normalization with Israel without comprehensive peace
Qatar-Israel, Politics, 9/11/2000
An informed Qatari official said that his country will not head to the normalization with Israel unless reaching a comprehensive peace in M.E.
The official who refused to have his name mentioned added that the relations with Israel are limited to a comprehensive peace in M.E including on the Syrian track, referring that the relations are currently frozen, referring that the meeting which took place in New York on margin of the Millennium between Sheik Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani and Ihud Barak the Israeli prime minister was aimed at encouraging the peace process.
Barak's advisor said that the two leaders pledged to continue improving the relations between Qatar and Israel under any circumstances.
It is worthy to mention that Qatar allowed Israel to open commercial bureau in 1996 yet steps toward the normalization were froze in 1997 due to the strict Israeli policies and peace process halt.
