Hamas assures continued armed resistance against Israel
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 9/11/2000
The opposition religious Palestinian Hamas movement said yesterday that it will continue armed resistance against Israel even if the current negotiations with it led to the establishment of a Palestinian state in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
Ismail Abu Shanab, one of the movement's leaders in Gaza Strip said hat "continuing the armed resistance even after the establishment of Palestine is the only language to use with the occupation which enable us to impose the Palestinian will on it."
He added that "the status quo refer to that Israel will not withdraw from all Palestine and it will neither give us back Jerusalem nor allow the refugees' return therefore our right in the resistance will remain legal."
