Egypt-USA, Economics, 9/11/2000

Egyptian sources assured that the U.S Egyptian negotiations concerning reviving an old commercial agreement that is related to the date of Camp David accords ratification "are about to get finished."

The agreement allows Egypt to get into the bids of the U.S Defense Department for supplying the U.S armies and fleets all over the world with shoes, cloths, fruits and vegetables especially the 6th fleet in the Mediterranean Sea and in the Gulf area.

The negotiations began since many months in the attendance of experts from both sides.

One of the Egyptian businessmen abroad offered in 1997 establishing a company to handle this subject yet the project was stopped.

Egyptian minister of economy and foreign trade Yuself Botrus Ghali discussed this issue during his visit to Washington in last March including the escorting delegation to the Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak in this concern and the two sides agreed on forming a committee concerning this subject that will be convened in Cairo in coming month.
