After his visit to Tehran , El-Mahdi meets with El-Torabi in Qatar on coming Wednesday

The former Sudanese prime minister - head of the opposition Sudanese Umma party - headed to Tehran to meet the Iranian president, his foreign minister and the high ranking officials in the parliament to discuss the raised initiatives concerning solving the Sudanese crisis.

Spokesman of the Umma party Hasan Ahmed El-Hasan told Arabic News that "during his tour in Tehran, El-Mahdi is going to meet the Iranian President Mohammed Khatami, Mr. Kamal Kharazi the Iranian foreign minister, the reformers in parliament and the high ranking officials in the country," adding that visiting Tehran and meeting the officials aims at collecting the diplomatic support for the Sudanese unity cause and supporting the Egyptian - Libyan initiative.

He referred that El-Mahdi "will meet some Moslem leaders that play a positive role in supporting Islam correctly and that he will explain to the president and to his foreign minister following their return from New York the steps he took in the Sudanese rapport and the neighboring countries' stances as well as the joint stances as well as the joint initiative two countries."

El-Hasan also said that El-Mahdi will head in the end of his tour in Tehran to Doha (Qatar) for he will meet Hasan El-Torabi on coming Wednesday to discuss supporting the Egyptian initiative, the necessity of supporting democracy, resorting to people concerning democracy through the election boxes, refusing the suppression and trusteeship against Sudan and keeping his unity in framework of the Egyptian - Libyan initiative, saying that El-Mahdi will meet some Qatari officials during his existence in Doha before heading to Cairo.
