Egypt's President Mubarak yesterday presided over expanded ministerial meeting at Rasa A1 Tine Palace in which he reviewed the final arrangements of the new People's Assembly elections. The President held another meeting with the bureau of the National Democratic Party in which he discussed the election map for national democratic party candidates.

During both meetings, the president agreed on final preparations and nominations and issued a series of decreed guaranteeing holding elections in full neutrality, under the full supervision of the judiciary and in a climate of democracy and security stability.

Minister of Information Safwat A1 Sherif said review of elections preparations came in the framework of principles and rules which were previously stressed on by the president and in the light of reports raised before the President from the National Democratic Party members.

President Mubarak said that all state institutions will shoulder their responsibility to run the coming parliamentary elections fairly and without any compliments to one candidate at the expense of another. He assured that all are equal in rights and duties .

He also stressed the importance of providing all guarantees needed for the judges, under whose sponsorship elections will be held, to assure that they perform their duty.

"The Interior Ministry, on its part, will employ all its agencies to secure the society at large and the elections' process in particular under the rule of law without any interference," Information Minister Safwat A1 Sherif quoted President Mubarak.

"President Mubarak is keen that the elections run freely in practice of democracy, whose foundations have been established since 1981," Sherif said.

"The awareness of the citizens and parties will push the supreme national interests, notably political participation, to the forefront above any other considerations," Sherif quoted the president as saying.

He hoped that the political arena see an objective sticking-to-values dialogue on the party platforms and goals.

President Mubarak also warned against the individuals who try to exploit the climate of freedom to break legitimacy, mislead the society, and undermine values and achievements, the Minister of Information said.

President Mubarak referred to a working paper, submitted by the Justice Ministry, on distributing judges to the various constituencies.
