The severe drought crisis which has been hitting Iraq hard since three years and the decreased water level in the Tigris and the Euphrates rivers have pushed hundreds of peasants and farmers to dig wells to irrigate their farms. Iraq's irrigation ministry secretary Abdul Sattar Salman said that water level at the Tigris reached levels never seen since 75 years, noting that the drought might lead a decrease in wheat production to 37%.
