Mubarak, Ben-Issa underline support for Palestinian sovereignty over East Jerusalem

Egypt's President Mubarak and Emir of Bahrain Sheikh Hamad Ben Issa Al-Khalifa held a tete-a-tete session that tackled Middle East cause and bilateral relations.

The two leaders underlined the necessity of maintaining Palestinian sovereignty over East Jerusalem and Holy Places stressing the need to maintain joint coordination at the Arab level with the aim of convening a successful Arab Summit that achieves interests of Arab nation.

An official source at the Bahraini delegation said that following talks, Egyptian-Bahraini points of view were concurrent on issues of interest to the region especially the Middle East peace march, the latest developments on the Arab arena and efforts for rallying Arab ranks.

The source said the two sides have expressed their full support for Arab rights, and maintaining Palestinian sovereignty over East Jerusalem.

They also discussed ways of boosting bilateral relations and expanding cooperation between the two states in the economic field.

The source said the two leaders discussed ways of boosting relations in the various fields with main emphasis on economic and social fields.

The source said views were concurrent between Egypt and Bahrain on issues of concern to the Arab nation and the latest renewable on the Arab arena.

On the sidelines of the Egyptian-Bahraini Summit sporadic meetings were held among the members of the Egyptian and Bahraini delegations on ways of achieving economic integration between the two countries.

Meanwhile, Safwat El Sherif said that President Mubarak expressed his own esteem and that of the Egyptian people of distinguished relations with the people of Bahrain and stressed support to Bahrain and the march of progress and modernization led by Sheikh Hamad Ben Isa, the Emir of Bahrain.

"The Emir of Bahrain expressed his appreciation and that of his people of the efforts of President Mubarak to rally Arab ranks and uphold legitimate rights and the efforts of President Mubarak in support of the Palestinian people in their strife to realize their just demands and maintain stability in the area," he said.
