The new cabinet to double efforts, Youssoufi says
Morocco, Politics, 9/7/2000
The government appointed Wednesday by King Mohammed VI will step up efforts in carrying on action within royal directives outlined in the Throne Day speech, said Premier Abderrahmane Youssoufi.
The head of government told the press after the ceremony at the royal palace in Agadir (600 km south of Rabat) the new team will mobilize to carry out the outgoing government's program with a strong emphasis on renewal and diligence. The reshuffle also brought to the government a younger political class led by the king capable of meeting Moroccan expectations for the third millennium, he said.
Head of the Istiqlal party, the major partner of Youssoufi's USFP in the coalition-government, Abbas El Fassi, who takes one of the heaviest portfolios combining employment, vocational training, social development and solidarity, said he was ready to jointly work with staff, unions and entrepreneurs to lay foundations for a thriving Morocco.
El Fassi told the 2M television channel he was determined to work for nationwide mobilization to implement the contents of the Throne Day speech.
New minister of agriculture Ismail Alaoui told the same channel that slimming down the cabinet and introducing new members was necessary to boost efficiency and performance.
