Jordan persists on restoring Jerusalem back
Jordan-Palestine, Politics, 9/6/2000

Jordan's foreign minister Abdul Illah al-Khatib has stressed that Jerusalem is a red line for the negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian government. He stressed that there is persistence to restore back occupied Jerusalem which was occupied in 1967 and Jerusalem to be the capital for the independent Palestinian state.

In an interview with the Monte Carlo radio on Tuesday, al-Khatib added that the council of the Arab foreign ministers which concluded its meetings in Cairo had refused violations of the Palestinian rights in Jerusalem or its holy sites.

He added that Jordan backs the restoration back of the Palestinian rights in Jerusalem and this holy city to be the capital for the coming Palestinian state.

He indicated that it was agreed that a certain mechanism will be adopted to convene periodically the Arab summit in order to discuss current Arab political conditions.
