Turkish call to strengthen relations with Syria, Iran and Iraq
Regional-Turkey, Politics, 9/5/2000
Leader of the Turkish al-Fadila party Raja Toutan has accused certain ruling circles in Ankara in working to intensify relations with Tehran, in obstructing efforts to lift the sanctions imposed on Iraq and in delaying practical measures to developing positive relations with Damascus.
In radio statements he made on Monday, Toutan called on the Turkish government to develop its relations with Iran, Syria and Iraq. He accused the Turkish government of giving big concessions to Greece. He regretted the policy pursued by the Turkish government and described it as emotional towards Greece as it came after ' the small aids given by Greece to Turkey during the 1999 earthquake."
