Nomairi withdraws nomination from presidential elections in Sudan
Sudan, Politics, 9/1/2000
The former Sudanese president Jaafer Nomairi said he is withdrawing his nomination form the presidential elections that will take place in coming October.
In declarations to the Kuwaiti newspaper Anbaa, Nomairi assured that withdrawing his nomination came due to his trend to dedicate himself to work in the national patriotic work through Nedaa El-Salam (call of peace) organization.
He also asked the opposition to get rid of the extremists toward the national rapport and to listen to reason as well as resorting to Shura and to the people.
On the other hand, the Sudanese government lifted up yesterday the censorship on the newspapers and Ali Ahmed El-Adadi - the human right official in the Sudanese justice ministry - assured that "the censorship imposed on the newspapers came according to status through which the country is passing, referring that if the newspapers were allowed in the last time to practice its full freedom a harm would have happened, therefore the government resorted to this temporary censorship."
