Morocco, Business, 8/31/2000
The flying personnel of the Moroccan carrier royal Air Maroc (RAM) decided to cancel the strike it was projecting to stage this Thursday. Two trade unions, la Confederation Democratique du Travail (CDT) and l'"Union Generale des Travailleurs du Maroc (UGTM) and the association of commercial flying personnel which had called for the strike decided to cancel the protest movement and voiced readiness to start as of next week a dialogue involving all concerned parties.
The decision to cancel the strike was made following the initiatives by the ministry of social development, solidarity, employment and vocational training and in view of the timing which coincides with the crucial phase of the return of Moroccan expatriates to host countries.
