Russia for strong relations with Kuwait
Kuwait-Russia, Politics, 8/30/2000

Russian foreign minister Igor Ivanov has stressed that his country backs rapid development of all-round relations with Kuwait in all political, trade, economic, cultural and military fields.

In a joint press conference with Kuwait's minister of state for foreign affairs Majid Suleiman al-Shahin, Ivanov said that discussions dealt with the situation in the Gulf region and the tangible aspect to settle the situation emerging about Iraq. He stressed that Russia calls for the implementation of UN Security council resolutions and to ensure an atmosphere of reciprocated confidence and cooperation among the countries of the region.

On the other hand, al-Shahin stressed that Kuwait considers Russia a friendly state who, thanks to its key role at a member at the UN, bears its international responsibility and that Russia had proven its ability in dealing positively with resolutions released by the UN Security Council.
