The Sudanese government accused Eritrea of supporting a plan for launching an attack on east Sudan that is prepared by the Sudanese SPLA headed by Jhon Garang.

The government said that they have definite proof of Eritrea's involvement in this effort.

Ibrahim Mahmoud, governor of Kasla State said that the Eritrea government is involved in a military plan that targets east Sudan in allegation to retaliating Khartoum's support to Addis Ababa in the Eritrean - Ethiopian war.

Diplomatic sources assured that the Sudanese government asked in a note to the Eritrean foreign ministry allowing the officials in the embassy to check the Sudanese political prisoners in the Eritrean prison whom imprisonment period varied between 2 - 6 yeas without pressing any specific charges to them.

The note asked the Eritrean authority to try them if there were charges due to which they went to prison.
