Egypt calls for combating terrorism

Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa called upon the member-states of the European Security and Cooperation Organization to cooperate in terrorism combating.

This call comes as a result of the absence of terrorism combating from the top priorities of the organization. Moussa urges the organization also to set up an information network to exchange information about terrorism and chase terrorist cells.

The Egyptian call was pronounced during the workshop held in Vienna among the experts of the Mediterranean partner-states, Korea, and Japan for three days during the meetings of the European Security and Cooperation Organization presided currently by Austria.

The Egyptian delegation in this workshop was headed by Ambassador Fatma Hussein , Deputy of Undersecretary of State.

The Egyptian delegation also called for focusing on the economic dimension of the concept of security .

It stressed as well that economic diversity among the states might threaten the stability of the region.

The Egyptian delegation underlined also the close relation between European security and Mediterranean security.

The ambassador added as well that the economic dimension of security has not been put under apt consideration by the organization for the last twenty-five years since the ratification of the Helsinki Document.

Hence, the delegation called for giving due consideration to this dimension in the near future through holding a special convention among the Mediterranean partner-states and all the European security organizations with the aim of coordinating efforts, talks, and cooperation.

She also pointed to the proposal by the Foreign Minister, Amr Moussa calling for giving the experts of the Mediterranean partner-states the opportunity to get acquainted with the activities of Disputes Center Settling Disputes in the European Security and Cooperation Organization, and the followed steps and procedures to reach agreements for lowering armament in Europe.
