Moroccan embassy in Doha continues activities
Qatar-Morocco, Politics, 7/21/2000

The Qatari daily al-Raya on Thursday said Morocco's ambassador to Doha, who was summoned by his country for consultation on Wednesday, underestimated the importance of this measure on relations between the two states.

The Qatari daily quoted ambassador Muhammad al-Dallai before he left Doha as saying " the matter is just a summon up for consultation and does not mean boycotting of diplomatic relations. He added that the " Moroccan embassy will continue its ordinary activity in Doha and will not close off its doors" noting it will hold a big reception on the anniversary of King Muhammad 6th ascending to the throne on July 30.

On Tuesday the Moroccan foreign ministry said its announced to summon al-Dallai immediately for consultation and justified this measure by saying "It is since a considerable time that the Moroccan government has regrettably notified by stances taken by Qatar on the political or media levels."

The Moroccan daily strongly criticized Qatar for voting for Germany to host the Football world Cup of 2006, despite Morocco's nomination, which was presumed to have met the backing of all Arab states.

The Moroccan dailies also denounced the Qatari al-Jazira space channel because of " its anti Morocco " programs.
