Several Palestinian delegation members to Camp David return back to the West Bank
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 7/19/2000

Members of the Palestinian delegation for consultation with Palestinian President Yasser Arafat on Camp David negotiations decided to leave the US back to the West Back, without meeting him ( Arafat).

In a statement to AFP, member of the PLO executive committee Suleiman al-Najjab said that the two members of the delegation Teiser Khaled from the democratic front for the liberation of Palestine and Samir Ghoushe from the people's struggle front will leave Washington on Monday and that he ( al-Najjab will leave on Tuesday), SANA reported.

Al-Najjab, who, with other colleagues met with the US secretary of State Madeleine Albright explained that the delegation made consultations with Arafat despite the fact they did not meet with him.

He added " we decided to return back because we cannot consult this way with Arafat while we are in the homeland."

On the other hand, al-Najjab stressed that there will be no peace treaty with Israel without recognizing the legitimate rights of the Palestinians through the establishment of an independent state with Jerusalem as a capital and the return back of the refugees.

Worthy mentioning, the US administration has opposed the delegation's meeting with Arafat and justified that by the need to preserve the Camp David negotiations which has been carried out top secretly.
