Head of opposition Sudanese alliance: Bashir deceived the people
Sudan-Egypt, Politics, 7/15/2000

Mohammed Ossman El-Merghani, head of the opposition Sudanese democratic national alliance assured that "the Sudanese tragedy is about to end, accusing al-Bashir's system of deceiving the Sudanese people and the neighbor countries."

He told International News (INC) that "I advice the Egyptian governments not to place pressure on the opposition and must place it on the government." He assured that the preparatory meeting between the government and the opposition in Cairo will discuss two main points; the first is the regime's commitment to the coordination between the two initiatives (Egypt - Libya and IGAD), and completing the main points concerning preparing the atmosphere for breaking the freeze (in talks).

He expected that the head of the Ummah party El-Sadek El-Mahdi would return to the alliance in the coming conference and that he could attend the opposition's meetings with the government.
