Israel kidnaps, detains lebanese civilians
Lebanon-Israel, Politics, 7/13/2000

The Israeli court has extended its decision to continue the detention of the two Lebanese citizens Mustafa al-Deirani and Abdul Karim Obeid who were kidnapped by the Israeli forces five years ago from their houses in the Lebanese territories.

According to the Israeli Hebrew language radio, a decision released by the court claimed that Obeid and al-Deirani constitute a danger against Israel's security and therefore it was decided to hold them for at lease more three months.

The Israeli court claimed that its oppressive decision was taken because it can not explain all reasons that led to extending the detention of the two men because the information it used in its verdict are intelligence and security information that can not be disclosed, according to this court.

Meantime, the Israeli legal advisor Tasfi Risch has admitted that the Israeli occupation forces keeps the two Lebanese citizens Abdul karim Obeid and Mustafa al-Deirani as a bargaining position and thereby violating all international norms and charters.

In an interview with the Hebrew language Israeli army radio on Wednesday, the Israeli advisor added that Obeid and al-Deirani do not constitute a danger against Israel in contrary to what has been claimed by the sides seizing them, noting that these sides should bear the responsibility of kidnapping and arresting Arab citizens.

Risch called on the Israeli court which was due to have considered Obeid and al-Deirani cased on Wednesday to release them immediately. He stressed that continued detention of the two Lebanese men is a violation of laws and is endangering for the lives of the Israelis.
