Moroccan-Iranian Joint Commission to Meet in November
Morocco-Iran, Politics, 7/12/2000

Morocco has proposed that the Moroccan-Iranian joint commission convenes next November to ponder on means to enhance bilateral cooperation.

The proposal was made by Moroccan minister of industry, trade and handicraft, Alami Tazi, at a meeting in Rabat with Iran's ambassador to Morocco, Mohamed Reza Bakhtiari.

Tazi deplored the weak volume of trade exchanges between the two countries that does not exceed $280 million and stressed the need to enforce trade agreements concluded between Rabat and Tehran to enhance exchanges.

The Iranian diplomat expounded his country's industrial and exporting potentials mainly in the fields of oil products, agricultural machinery, land and maritime transport and telecommunication.

He proposed the organization of exhibitions in both countries and the trading of visits between businessmen to promote economic relations.
