American- Islamic Arab organization urges US not to press the Palestinians in Camp David talks
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 7/12/2000
The American Muslim Arab Organization has urged the US not to pressure the Palestinian side to give more concessions to Israel in the camp David negotiations which were due to have started on Monday evening.
The BBC said that the organization which held a meeting in Washington on Monday evening with the participation of several heads of Arab- Islamic Arab Organizations, also called on the Arab and the Islamic world to move on an international scale for clinging to the legitimate rights of the Palestinians.
The executive director of the American- Muslim organization Khaled Taraani said in an interview with the BBC in Washington that the organization's meeting aimed at not making pressures on the Palestinian side to give concessions, especially towards the question of Jerusalem and not to be subjugated to the American-Israeli pressures.
Taraani said that the organization stressed that every agreement that violates the condition of the occupied city of Jerusalem and does not meet the Arab rights is null and void in all international circles.
He continued that the organization also underlines the importance of establishing an independent Palestinian state and the need of dismantling the Israeli settlements especially in " this 21st century" where there is no racial discrimination regime in the world but only in Israel.
