Arab Maghreb student and youth call for referendum on UMA edification

Student and youth organizations, members of the Union of Arab Maghreb student and youth organizations, called for the holding of a referendum on the building up of the Arab Maghreb Union (UMA).
The call was made at a conference held here July 8-9 on the role of youth and students in the construction of the Arab Maghreb Union.
The conference, which was attended by 70 representatives of 8 student and youth organizations of Tunisia, Libya, Algeria and Morocco, stressed the need to reinforce the contribution of the civil society in the edification of the UMA.
Participants further called for a Maghreban economic space likely to ensure a lasting development for the peoples of the region, reactivation of the UMA bodies and the holding of a Maghreban summit.
The Arab Maghreb Union masters Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya and Mauritania.
