Death sentence support for Kuwait's governor during Iraqi invasion

The Kuwaiti court of appeal supported yesterday the death sentence verdict against the suspect Alaa Hussein. Alaa Hussein headed what is called the temporary government that formed by the Iraqi government during its occupation of Kuwaiti in 1990.

The Kuwaiti criminal court issued May 2 a verdict in support of the absentia sentence that was issued against him by the state security court in 1993 for high trison.

The trial which took place after the liberation of Kuwaiti, during which Alaa Hussein colleagues that were members of this alleged government came back from Baghdad, while he remained in Baghdad.

The suspect has one last appeal that his lawyers can use to move the case to the supreme judicial court.

Alaa Hussein returned to Kuwait willingly last January 14t where he was kept in prison in implementation the verdict issued against him on June the 5th 1993.
