Five senegalese army officers to join UN peacekeepers
International, 7/9/2000
Five Senegalese army officers are scheduled to leave Dakar over the weekend to join the Iraq-Kuwait UN Observation Mission, the Senegalese News Agency reported in Dakar Friday.
It quoted an official statement, which said this was the second Senegalese group to join the mission, which was stationed along the Kuwait-Iraq border in July 1991, at the end of the Gulf War.
The statement said that 58 officers have so far served in that mission that monitors military activities along the 200-km Iraq-Kuwait border.
