US $ 13.4 million donation from the US to Jordan
Jordan-USA, Health, 7/7/2000
The US and Jordanian governments on Thursday in Amman signed an agreement which says that Washington will give a donation estimated at US $ 13.4 million to back the health sector in Jordan.
A statement released by the Jordanian embassy in Amman said that the US ambassador William Burns and the Jordanian minister of planning Jawad hadid signed the agreement towards backing 308 state- owned health centers. These centers provide services on family planning for recently married Jordanian males and females as well as children health care services.
Burns also said that private centers which also provide remarkable services for family planning will also benefit from this donation.
Worthy mentioning that Jordan is the world number four in benefiting from the US aids which reached during the past three years almost US $ one billion including military and economic aids.
