PM highlights importance of education, scientific research

Egypt's Prime Minister Atef Ebeid said that the government wholeheartedly supports educational, scientific and technological development.
Following a meeting with the Technological Development Committee, Ebeid emphasized that educational and scientific research are fundamental to development.
Ebeid stressed on the personal interest shown by President Hosni Mubarak in this field.
The Technology Development Committee convened yesterday to discuss the role of scientific research in pushing forward the development process and upgrading the educational system by making use of the experience of advanced countries in this sphere.
The Committee reviewed experimental research papers from international research centers to study ways of applying expertise in different Egyptian service centers.
The Committee considered both the negative and positive points and suggestions to upgrade the system by changing academic curricula, organizing training courses for teachers and university staff and encouraging businessmen and investors to establish technical educational institutes and laboratories within industrial projects.
