Berri: Syrian army exists in Lebanon in a public and legal way

Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa convened with Nabeeh Berri head of the Lebanese parliament who is currently visiting Cairo to participate in the conference of the Islamic countries parliamentary leaders.

Following the meeting, Nabeeh Berri said the talks were a good chance to discuss the Israeli violations and the necessity of confronting it especially after the statement issued by the Security Council in view of the resolutions of the Arab foreign ministers' council that convened in Beirut in last March.

Concerning the Lebanese communications with the U.N concerning handling the Israeli violations, Berri said "a statement was issued by the Security Council that assures of 12 violations," adding "I believe that Terry Larsen the envoy of the U.N secretary is to visit the area on coming Friday to handle this matter."

Regarding the Syrian army's withdrawal from Lebanon, Berri said "the Syrian army exists in Lebanon not only with a legal will but with a public one also," saying in the name of the Lebanese frankly "we do not want to Syrian army to get out from Lebanon now."

He said that "we will determine the necessary time for this matter when it is necessary."
