90,373 candidates pass 1999-2000 Baccalaureate Exams in Morocco

The number of successful candidates in the Baccalaureate exams for the school year 1999/2000 reached 90,373 (out of 140.045 present candidates) compared to 78,800 last year, said the Moroccan department for secondary and technical education.

For the first time, baccalaureate results were announced simultaneously in all Moroccan academies and on the ministry's Internet website.

The number of students who passed the exams in public high schools was 82,967 out of 115,673 candidates (71.72 %) against 495 in private schools out of 520 candidates (95.19 %) while out of 23,852 free candidates, 6.911 succeed the exams (28,97%), the department said.

The department's statistics also revealed that success rate stood at 52.7 % for male candidates and at 47,22 % for female candidates.
