Some 1.3 million Iraqi children died because of UN sanctions

The Iraqi ministry of health said on Saturday that victims of the sanctions imposed on Iraq since 1990 until the end of May 2000 increased to 1,351,535.
AFP quoted a statistic report prepared by the Iraqi ministry of health saying that deaths among children under five year old reached 1.338, 808 while deaths among other children of different ages reached 12,727, SANA reported. The statistics explained that children mortality rate under five year old reached 130.6 for every one thousand births, while rate of deaths among re-productivity age reached 294 per each 100,000 birth cases.
