2006 world cup bid: Morocco's last presentation wednesday
Morocco, Sports, 7/1/2000

Morocco will be having a last chance to defend its candidacy to host the 2006 world soccer cup finals next Friday before the executive committee of the International Football association "FIFA" in Zurich.

A lot-drawing conducted Friday in Luxembourg in parallel to the European Football Association "UEFA" congress concluded that Britain will be the first country to defend its case (8.15 GMT), followed by South Africa (9.15), Morocco (12.15), Germany (1.15pm) and Brazil (2.15pm)

Meanwhile, acting chairman of the Moroccan committee campaigning for Morocco's bid, Driss Benhima, will present Morocco's file to the UEFA congress and "solemnly ask the Europeans to withdraw from the race in favor of Africa."

Benhima said Europe's withdrawal will be a proof to the greatness of the European football, a sign of fair-play and a solidarity gesture toward African football that has given stars to European championships.

The Moroccan committee had also presented Morocco's assets to other continental and regional football associations.
