On the division of al-Ghajar village in the Golan
Syria, Politics, 6/29/2000

The chairman of the local council of the occupied village of al-Ghajar in the occupied Golan Suleiman Khatib met on Wednesday in the presence of the village's chieftains with the Jordanian Ambassador to Israel Omar al-Refa. The meeting aims at urging Jordan to interfere to prevent the division of the village, according to UN resolution, according to the Israeli radio.

The division of the village comes up as Lebanon and Israel demarcate their borders. The division would split the village between Lebanon, and the occupied Syrian Golan.

The radio added that al-Refa promised to debate this issue on the Jordanian government and to convey the request of the chieftains of al-Ghajar village to convene a meeting with the ambassadors of each of Syria and Lebanon to Jordan to discuss this matter.
