Mubarak attends Republican Guard day

Egypt's President Hosni Mubarak on Monday attended the ceremony held on the occasion of the Republican Guard Day.

Defense Minister Field Marshal Mohammed Hussein Tantawi, and Chief-of-Staff LT. General Magdy Hatata welcomed the President.

President Mubarak attended a parade for the guard, then opened an array of new establishments.

He met with the leaders and officers of the Republican Guard to brief them on the latest developments inside and outside the country and also answered their queries.

President Mubarak listened to a briefing on development made in Republican Guard facilities by Maj. General Hamdi Wahiba, Republican Guard Commander.

The President toured the main reception hall at the Republican Guard House and watched computer programs.

Wahiba delivered a speech at the beginning of the meeting where he welcomed President Mubarak, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and then gave the President the Republican Guard present.
