1st quarter of 2000 records 13% increase in foreign tourists in morocco

The number of foreign tourists who visited Morocco in January-March 2000 reached 522,000 persons, marking a 13% compared to 462,000 in the corresponding period of 1999, said the statistics department. The figures generated receipts worth $ 422 million, an increase of 19.5% compared to Jan-Mar 1999.
In 1999, about 2.4 million tourists visited Morocco making of the tourism sector the first source of foreign currency with more than $ 1,8 billion of remittances.
