Referendum election committee meets

The Interior ministry committee in charge of following up the referendum on Tuesday held a meeting chaired by the Minister of the Interior Muhammad Harba.
Members of the committee discussed measures and preparations taken by the ministry to carry out the People's Assembly PA decision on nominating Lt. Gen. Bashar al-Assad for the presidency according to the provisions of the referendum law. The committee stressed that work has already started in completing the referendum requirements and especially the lists which are prepared by the ministry's information department.
The minister said that referendum lists of every governorate were prepared in order to be put at the referendum centers. These lists include the names of those who are eligible to voting.
The minister said that the number of Syrian citizens who are at the voting age is 9,424,450, while it was 9,101, 155 in the last referendum run for the late President's last term of office.
