OIC secretary holds Israel responsible for undermining ME peace
Regional, Politics, 6/28/2000
The secretary general of the Organization of the Islamic Conference Ezz eddine al-Iraqi on Tuesday held Israel responsible for violating the ME peace process.
In a speech he made before the OIC foreign ministers meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, al-Iraqi said that Israel still proceeds its illegitimate practices, confiscating lands and properties, permitting the building of new settlements and destroying houses of the Palestinians.
Al-Iraqi called on the international community to pressure Israel to put an end to building of settlements on the Palestinian and occupied Arab lands and to provide all forms of economic, financial, and political backing to the Palestinian negotiators.
On the other hand, al-Iraqi described the economic embargo imposed by the UN on Iraq since 10 years as unjustified. He denounced the random attacks carried out by the US and British planes against what so called the "no-fly zone" on northern and southern Iraq.
